Real Black Grandmothers
This website was created by UW professor, LaShawnDa Pittman, who wanted to create a platform to tell stories about the under-served community of Black Grandmothers. This includes everything from testimonies to art, music and literature on this topic. I am a digital archivist and interviewer. I interview black grandmothers and ask about their stories and experiences with their families. I also conduct research on literature pertaining to the topic as well as news articles. Below are examples and links of articles I have contributed to that are published on the website.
Terrell Jermaine Starr
In the news: Terrell Jermaine Starr's grandmother raised a grandson with 3 degrees
I researched many news articles and social media platforms to find out about Starr's journey. I wrote a summary of his experiences with his grandmother and his professional career that has been incorporated into the website article.
